3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T GIVE UP THAT MUSIC EXECUTIVE YOU WANT TO HELP YOUR CAREER

I started out telling you all how I got to work for Cobhams Asuquo in an earlier post. I actually wanted to be an artiste and was looking for somewhere to produce my demo so I could take it to him. I approached someone I've known for quite some time and told him of my plans and how much I was about to spend. He then told me to save my money that he knew someone who was like a brother to Cobhams and he'd introduced me to the man. I started chasing him. Mr Dee. My God, I chased him down for about a month before he eventually booked an appointment between me and Cobhams. He cancelled on me more that twice but I never got angry or frustrated. I wanted to meet with Cobhams and I was determined to go in the rain if required. Eventually an appointment was secured. This is just part one of the story. By the time I'm done with my story I'm sure some of you will be ready to pay me to teach you the art of determination, patience and tenacity.

I've come across a number of aspiring artistes who give up too easily. I've come across a couple of untalented aspiring artistes who never gave up until they got what they wanted from me. There's this particular guy that practically relocated from Bayelsa state to Lagos to come do music because I casually suggested it in a bid for him to get off my back. I've tried everything possible to get him off my back but as I write this post today I think I'm becoming a believer. I won't be surprised if that guy becomes as successful as Vic O, if not more, and that is a huge success considering his absolute lack of musical talent.

Just because a music executive expresses interest in your music doesn't mean the deal is sealed. You still have to follow them up. Sometimes they're watching to see how much you want it. They want to know bow badly you want to succeed, how far you're willing to go to have a successful career. Once you can't communicate that with your actions, they eventually let go of you.

1. You need to realise that you aren't the only talented individual out there.

2. You also need to understand that it takes more than talent to succeed in the music industry.

3. You need to know that it takes more than mental determination but physical action to prove your determination.

So, I want to encourage you today, don't give up too easily and keep pushing till you get what you want.

Remember we're still celebrating Andy Mineo who made most of his contacts via the internet. He met Alex Medina who helped him develop his talent and made way for him in the industry. Now he's signed to Reach records. Andy Mineo is an example of a very hardworking and tenacious artiste doing the kind of music most gospel artistes wouldn't dare to do. So, in honour of Andy Mineo's tenacity, I'll be posting KNOW THAT'S RIGHT - ANDY MINEO. Enjoy!
