RECIPE FOR SUCCESS (THE HAND-DUSTING TRICK)

There's this story I heard back when I was a kid, I don't know how true it is. It's about a young girl who
never liked assisting her mother in the kitchen. She used to go off to play with her friends and stop by the kitchen, occasionally, to check if the food was ready. For some reason, every time she stopped by, she'd see her mother dusting her hands into the pot but she never asked why.

So, one day she got married to a man she loved. The man in particular was a food lover and was really looking forward to tasting his beautiful wife's dishes. He assumed she would be a great cook just because her mother was.

So, the girl decided to give it a try; "It isn't so difficult cook anyway, is it?" she thought to herself. So, she put the pot on the stove, put in some water, put in some rice, put all the ingredients and dusted her hands into the pot. When the food was ready she served it to her husband who sent her packing after tasting the horrible saltless food.

Okay, that's the dumbest story I've ever heard in my entire life and I still can't believe I actually bought into that story as kid.

I get the lesson from the story though. Every young girl should be willing to learn, ask questions and not make assumptions.

To succeed at anything, especially as a Christian music/conscious music artiste, you must be teachable. No matter how much you know, there's always someone who knows more than you do.

See, never make the mistake of arguing with someone who obviously is more experienced than you in the industry. Just listen and take what you can from them, the ones you don't agree with be diplomatic about it or just shut up. Free advice there.

But really, you must be teachable. You can't grow if you're not teachable. One major way you can stay relevant is if you upgrade your knowledge and that can only happen if you're willing to learn. Knowledge is power and nobody knows it all, so when you interact with people, make it a point of duty to learn something from everybody you interact with. You'd be amazed at how much you can grow just by being teachable.
