Today's post is going to be a very short one.
I was with an aspiring artiste who told me she wanted to do music full time but was scared of the unknown and was considering getting a job but at the same time she wanted a job that would give her time to do music but sadly such jobs don't pay much and are difficult to come by, blah blah blah.
So, I told her, the fact that you're considering playing it safe just shows that you're not really made for this. I'll explain. When you're called to do something, faith grows in your heart. You know things are going to be tough but you still have faith, very strong faith. Every decision you make is made around your purpose. If you truly know you're made to have a career in music, you'll turn down seemingly mouth watering offers just because you know such offers can truncate your career.
So for you to start out thinking of how to play it safe only shows you can be easily swayed when things get really tough, and they will.
Not to say you shouldn't think of other sources of income to support yourself, you should. I've dealt with How To Start Your Music Career With Little Or No Funds in a previous post. You can read it here. What I'm saying is the fact that you're so concerned about money is just an indicator that you're not built for this. It only shows that when the going gets rough and only the tough are surviving, you will give up.
So, you see, to deal with the fear of being broke as you start out your career, you must get ready for it, face it and embrace it because you're going to be broke. I promise you... Oh, except you're from a very rich home and your parents are very supportive of you. Then you probably don't need most of my advices.
